kakah batista

Renowned as one of the most creative music producers and DeeJays of Zouk music, DJ Kakah is famous for her remixes that touch a large worldwide audience. Her passion and curiosity date back to age 11, when she played piano for the first time.

In 2001, she got her first guitar and never stopped learning music from that moment. She also liked getting involved in school and church events.

By the time Kakah was 18, she started her band. Exclusively composed of ladies, the group gained in popularity around the Fortaleza city. When they were scheduled in various festivals, she was playing guitar, she was singing and she was composing for the band. She was always creating new styles and adapting old versions of pop/rock. Thanks to the good image she conveyed with the music group she obtained a grant and enrolled one of the best music schools of the town. She studied, not only music in its very raw and technical way, but also singing, guitar and percussion.

As she continued studying, she started recording her own creations in an improvised home studio. This was the beginning of a successful career as a music producer.

Kakah also added dancing to her activities and had a first dance experience with West Coast Swing; one year later, she discovered Zouk.

Because Zouk music was too serious, with little originality and a lack of dynamic variation, she did not find the dance very attractive. At that time Zouk was danced on ghetto zouk and traditional kizomba in Fortaleza. But once she listened to Allan Z, Mafie Zouk and Max Black Soul, she realised she should create her own remixes for the dance.

After seven years of practice and learning of both music and dance in their most varied forms, she developed and created her music production and her dancing.

Her motto: ”there is always so much to learn and create”.
