Carlos & Olga – Brazilian Zouk Teachers and Community Builders

Carlos & Olga are a Brazilian Zouk teaching duo based in Frankfurt, Germany. For the past three years, they have been dedicated to developing the local dance scene, teaching 3–4 times a week in their community and traveling to festivals on weekends to share their knowledge. Some of the festivals they taught at in 2024 include the Prague Zouk Congress, Brazouky Germany (Munich), the MAC Festival (Paris), the Bachata Zouk Royals Festival (Freiburg), and the Hamburg Zouk Festival.

The two are certified MAC teachers and are always looking for ways to refine and improve their skills. Their teaching is known for being well-structured and practical, with a focus on clear communication and student satisfaction. Carlos & Olga specialize in elegant moves, clean lines, and the effective use of space within the couple’s dynamic. They take pride in making complex topics approachable and creating a positive atmosphere for their students.

In Frankfurt, Carlos & Olga founded Zouk Frankfurt, a hub for the local Zouk community. They organize monthly parties, workshops with internationally recognized artists, and are also the organizers of the Frankfurt Zouk & Lambada Congress. Beyond teaching, they actively support their students, helping them grow as dancers and even as future teachers to further spread Brazilian Zouk.

Carlos, originally from Campinas, Brazil, discovered Brazilian Zouk in 2007. Over the years, he also explored other styles such as Forró and Bachata, which influenced his dancing. His style is characterized by his considerate approach, ensuring that followers feel comfortable and have the space to express themselves during the dance. Carlos is also a trained engineer, which reflects in his structured and analytical approach to teaching. In addition to his teaching skills, he is a Zouk DJ, contributing to the social dance scene with his passion for music.

Olga, from Belarus, studied education, which gives her a strong foundation in explaining concepts clearly and adapting to different learning styles. She took her first dance steps at the age of 25, which shaped her analytical approach to learning and teaching dance. Starting with Argentine Tango, she later moved into Salsa and Bachata, becoming a professional Bachata artist. She further expanded her skills through private lessons in Contemporary, Modern Dance, and Ballet as an adult. However, Brazilian Zouk became her true passion. Her ability to break down complex dance concepts into understandable elements is rooted in her educational background and experience as an adult learner, making her teaching especially effective for a wide audience.

Together, Carlos & Olga combine their different backgrounds and experiences to create a unique teaching style. They have a talent for helping dancers from other styles, such as Salsa and Bachata, transition smoothly into Brazilian Zouk. Alongside their teaching, they also lead choreography and show projects, further contributing to the growth of the Zouk community.

Through their dedication and teamwork, Carlos & Olga have built a welcoming and dynamic space for Zouk dancers in Frankfurt and beyond.
